What We Do

Completed in October 2014, the Elm Street Apartments are NJCDC's most recent addition to its supportive housing roster, providing 20 units of affordable housing.

Elm Street Apartments are comprised of:

  • 16 studios now housing formerly homeless young adults and youth aging out of foster care
  • 4 three-bedroom apartments for grandparent guardians of children with disabilities or children in the foster care system

This unique housing project has social service staff providing ongoing support to all the residents to assist them in reaching their fullest potential and achieving success.

Formerly a vacant lot on the corner of Elm and Cianci Streets in Paterson, New Jersey, the intergenerational residence was designed by MG New York Architects and made possible by the City of Paterson, New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, and the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York.
