Under bright blue skies and surrounded by the rolling greens of Glen Ridge Country Club, NJCDC’s 18th Annual ‘Fore the Kids’ Golf Outing brought together an inspiring community of supporters on Monday, May 4, for a day defined by generosity, camaraderie, and shared purpose.
Since 2009, this beloved tradition has united NJCDC’s partners, donors, and friends for more than just a day on the course — it has served as a powerful investment in the future of Paterson’s children and families. This year’s outing proved that the tradition is stronger than ever.
With a full turnout and extraordinary support from attendees and sponsors, the event raised more than $100,000 to advance NJCDC’s mission of creating opportunities to transform lives.
Guests arrived to a warm welcome of breakfast, networking, and practice putts before heading out for a noon shotgun start. With perfect spring weather as their backdrop, golfers took to the scenic 18-hole course with enthusiasm, competing in good spirits for a cause far greater than the game itself.
After an afternoon on the greens, participants gathered in the clubhouse for cocktails, a celebratory lunch, and time to reflect on the day’s impact. A slideshow of highlights played as guests swapped stories and shared a collective sense of pride.
During the program, NJCDC Founder & CEO Bob Guarasci expressed heartfelt gratitude for the community’s enduring support while underscoring the transformative work made possible through events like this.
“Today, we’re not just enjoying one of the nicest days of the year — together, we’re raising critical resources for the thousands of children and families we serve every day in Paterson,” Guarasci said. “From bringing Paterson students to visit Harvard, Yale, and MIT, to breaking ground this summer on a new $15 million youth center, to expanding affordable housing and community development projects — none of this is possible without your support. We are deeply grateful.”
Bill Pascrell III, longtime NJCDC Board Trustee, also reflected on the organization’s remarkable journey and lasting impact.
“For more than 30 years, NJCDC has been transforming lives in Paterson in extraordinary ways,” Pascrell said. “What began as a bold vision has become one of New Jersey’s most impactful community organizations, and that progress continues because of supporters like all of you.”
The celebration continued with the announcement of contest winners, including top-performing teams and individual skill challenge champions for Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. In one of the day’s most heartening moments, the first- and second-place winners of the 50/50 raffle generously donated their prizes back to NJCDC, further amplifying the event’s fundraising impact.
Attendees also enjoyed special touches throughout the event, including waffles, ice cream, and freshly rolled cigars courtesy of Fumé Cigar Shop in Montclair.
By day’s end, the outing had once again demonstrated what is possible when a community comes together in support of Paterson’s future.
NJCDC extends its deepest thanks to every golfer, sponsor, donor, volunteer, and supporter who made this year’s ‘Fore the Kids’ Golf Outing such a tremendous success. Together, they are helping ensure that more young people and families in Paterson have access to the opportunities, resources, and support they deserve.
