Ce’Yann Irving, a mother of a 1-year-old daughter, pays $990 a month for a two-bedroom apartment on the site of a former dairy processing plant in the Central City neighborhood of New Orleans. She has amenities, like a 24-hour gym and an on-site community clinic, at arm’s reach.
On Feb. 7, the multidisciplinary real estate nonprofit research and education organization announced its 2024 Excellence Awards winners. The award in Affordable Housing will be presented to Barclay Place Apartments, developed by NJCDC in partnership with St. Joseph's Health and New Jersey Community Capital.

First Lady Tammy Murphy will be joined by several special guests, including Barclay Place resident Cristina Tone.
Barclay Place resident Cristina Tone was one of 14 individuals spotlighted at Governor Phil Murphy's State of the State Address on Tuesday. Tone was recognized for her resilience, community spirit, and unwavering determination in the face of adversity, a statement said.
